Yamuna river flood-plain between Delhi and Noida, the reason we should not construct along the river

Описание: The fabulous flood plain of the Yamuna river is the very reason that we should never construct along the historical highs of the flood lines and banks of the river! Yet, we made the Akshardham Temple and the Commonwealth Games Village smack dab in the middle of the flood plains, without learning our lessons from previous flooding incidents. When the Jamna river is eventually flood, it will take away any developments created in its path, and there will undoubtedly be a catastrophic flooding, almost like the biblical floods. Did we not learn our lessons after the Uttarakhand floods?

Leaving a river to flow its course is all important and allows the water to percolate into the ground through the flood plains, and to recharge underground aquifers which Indian developers so happily take away from for all their residential and commercial projects. No one gives a thought to recharge!

That's not the DND Flyway, so help us identify that bridge over the Yamuna that spans from Delhi to NOIDA. Watch those over-sized tall towers on the NOIDA side and the well planned Metro bridges and connectors between pedestrian traffic flow and the highways. NOIDA must be a way better planned city than Gurgaon which clearly blew its chances through greed!
