Tehri Dam
Tehri Dam is the biggest dam in Asia.
It is situated on Bhagirathi river in Uttarakhand, India.
It is rock and earth filled massive water barrier.
It is a multi-purpose rock and earth-fill embankment dam on the Bhagirathi River near Tehri in Uttarakhand, India.
It is the primary dam of the THDC India Ltd. and the Tehri hydroelectric complex.

Cheruthoni Dam
The Cheruthoni Dam, located in Idukki District, Kerala, India, is a 138m tall concrete gravity dam.
This dam was constructed as part of the Idukki Hydroelectric Project along with two other dams at Idukki and Kulamavu.
The water impounded by these three dams of Idukki, Cheruthoni & Kulamavu has formed a single reservoir spread over 60km on a height of 2300 ft above Mean Seal Level.

Bhakra Nangal Dam

Hirakud Dam
Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 15 km from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India.
Behind the dam extends a lake, Hirakud Reservoir, 55 km long.
It is one of the first major multipurpose river valley projects started after India’s independence.
It has a reservoir spread of 743 sq km at full reservoir level and the reservoir has a storage of 5818 M. Cum with gross of 8136 M Cum.
NagarjunaSagar Dam
Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is the world’s largest masonry dam.
It was built on the Krishna River at Nagarjuna Sagar in between Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh state and Nalgonda district of Telangana state.
And is one of the largest networks of canal systems.
This mighty Nagarjuna dam, which was completed in 1969, owing to its confounding height of 124 meters, and 1 km long, and has 26 crest gates.
Nagarjunasagar Dam can store up to 11, 472 million cubic meters in its reservoir.

Sardar Sarovar Dam
The Sardar Sarovar Dam is a gravity dam on the Narmada River near Navagam, Gujarat in India.
It is the largest dam and part of the Narmada Valley Project, a large hydraulic engineering project involving the construction of a series of large irrigation and hydroelectric multi-purpose dams on the Narmada River.
The project took form in 1979 as part of a development scheme to increase irrigation and produce hydroelectricity.

Omkareshwar and Maheshwar projects are proposed in the downstream to utilize the regulated releases of Indira Sagar project of irrigation and power generation.
Krishnarajasagar Dam
Krishna Raja Sagara, also popularly known as KRS, is the name of both a lake and the dam that creates it.
It is located close to the settlement of Krishnarajasagara.
The dam is across Kaveri River, in Mandya District near Mysore in Karnataka state, India.
There is an ornamental garden attached to the dam, called Brindavan Gardens.

Mettur Dam
The Mettur Dam is one of the largest dams in India built in 1934.
It was constructed in a gorge, where the Kaveri River enters the plains.
The dam is one of the oldest in India.
It provides irrigation facilities to parts of Salem, the length of Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappali and Thanjavur district.

Bisalpur Dam
The greatest dam of Rajasthan-Bisalpur, located in Tonk District of Rajasthan.
The dam is built across the Banas River between two mountains.
The largest dam of Rajasthan-Bisalpur with a height of 39m is one of the honor of Rajasthan.
Tonk dam attract vast variety of birds local as well as migratory.

Koyna Dam
The Koyna Dam is one of the largest dams in Maharashtra, India.
It is a rubble-concrete dam constructed on Koyna River which rises in Mahabaleshwar, a hillstation in Sahyadri ranges.
It is located in Koyna Nagar, Satara district, nestled in the Western Ghats on the state highway between Chiplun and Karad.
