Herdade do Monte da Silveira Bio (ValeCereal, S.A.) has an area of 680 ha, has been practising organic farming since 1999 and began converting to regenerative and biodynamic farming in 2021. It also has around 500 ha of forest made up of holm oak and cork oak forests. As well as farming, it is also dedicated to holistic management for breeding Salers and Charolais cattle breeds, White Merino and Black Merino sheep breeds, and black Alentejo pigs.
Irene Katsaros, a Researcher at Monte Silveira Bio, is contributing for the activities of the IBERSOILL living lab. Irene represents one of the demosites from Portugal, who will demonstrate the effect of grazing and pasture management on soil organic carbon sequestration.
