Are you interested in making money online? Do you want to build an online business so that you can work from anywhere in the world? Live the laptop lifestyle? Or maybe you'd like to use the web to promote something else - a business you already run or a music career.

Whatever the case, it can be tough to know where to start or how to get word out for your idea. In this video then, I briefly run through the basics of running an online business: how PPC and affiliate marketing help publishers to generate income, how SEO and digital marketing can be used to promote a brand and how you can work as a freelance copywriter, web designer or anything else.

The most important takehome though is not to buy into 'get rich quick' schemes that promise you will make money online in no time at all if you buy their program. Think about the content that you read regularly and the creators that you know to be successful online. The thing they have in common is that they care. They create high quality content, they do so consistently (because they love it) and they create beautiful videos, stunnign websites and entertaining content that provides new ideas and has a unique personality. SEO has evolved to the point where it no longer works if you try and 'game' the system. Today, good SEO is achieved through content marketing - by creating a strong brand and filling it with top quality.

So don't be an 'internet marketer' - be a content creator. Be a content developer. Learn to write well, choose a niche you love, create a strong brand, learn to make high quality videos, learn to design using vector software, learn to make 3D models, get better at promoting yourself on camera, network...
