This technique is used to convert pinning on the exterior of the sleeve to usable pinning on the interior with the fabric right sides together. It gives you the stitching line and allows a perfect fit with good mobility. Plus the best part is cutting out all that extra armscye at the end for a nice comfortable sleeve fit.
