Building a model of Mount St Helens using Digital Elevation Maps, in TerraformFX, Cinema 4d - Part 1

Описание: In this tutorial I will show you my process of using a digital elevation Map (DEM) in TerraformFX to create a model of Mount St. Helens for an infographic. You can use this process for many geographical landmarks, that's if your DEMs are of a good enough resolution. The model I show at the beginning of this video and the thumbnail is one I prepared earlier and is based on earlier reference images. We are going to create something slightly different, which is a bit more complex and a bit more up to date. This video will demonstrate how layering your operators can create something that looks amazing. To follow along you need to have Insydium Fused and TerrformFX installed.

I've split this into 3 parts.

Part 1: I will cover where you can find your DEMs and how you can bring them into TerraformFX to get a base model for sculpting. My DEM is of a low resolution, so I will break down the process of what operators I used and how I used these to get a relatively detailed model. It's a not an exact replica, but you can get a good representation of your subject for a presentation.

Part 2: I will show you how I textured the original model and the process of creating a new Octane material for our new model. We're going to create some elements for our presentation, like a smoke plume and contour lines. I'm going to cover the use of external compositing for our call outs. Part 3: Once we've rendered our animation, we're going to assemble everything in After Effects. I will show you my work flow.
