It was a night of Broadway debuts at the Barrymore Theatre.
Andrew Upton's ''The Present'', a modern adaptation of Chekhov's ''Platonov'', opened last night at the Barrymore Theatre. The play marks Broadway's first all-Australian cast as well as the Broadway debuts for every member of the Sydney Theatre Company ensemble. Leading the charge are two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh (under the direction of John Crowley), who, along with the rest of their tight-knit company, celebrated the gift of this timely new play after the curtain came down.
