Описание: A RAPIDLY ESCALATING WOMEN’S HEALTH CRISIS Women are experiencing escalating levels of debilitating stress, anxiety, depression, and
trauma. Not only is our physical and mental wellbeing deteriorating, but the families and institutions that we carry on our shoulders are under threat. This rapidly escalating health crisis demands a focused, effective response. Research shows that women are particularly vulnerable to depression, anxiety, and other forms of stress and trauma. A recent Yale University study on women and depression found that “heightened risk factors for women include higher incidences of childhood sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, and high stress induced by persistent gender-based discrimination [and] hormonal changes of pregnancy. menstruation, and menopause.”

When a family member experiences depression or other mental health challenges, the whole family is significantly impacted. This heightens the urgency of making interventions like the evidence-based Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique available and affordable to women — who are by and large the primary family caregivers.

Moreover, the severity of a woman’s illness has a considerable effect on the functioning and health of
both the family unit and individual family members.
