'Daphne' Melody Played With Chords.
'Daphne' is a killer up tempo rhythm changes style tune which was written by Django Reinhardt & Stephane Grappelli.
Big fun to play and very popular in the gypsy jazz scene.
The melody is usually played in octaves to give it power but you can extend upon that by using chord voicings.
I used these chords when I recorded 'Daphne' with the great jazz guitar player Martin Taylor and it sounded cool!
So you use the same rhythm as playing the melody but instead of a single note or octave you use a chord inversion.
In the video I show you the inversions I use so learn each one slowly and get them comfortably under your fingers.
The last bit of the melody is played the same as usual with single notes.
Next thing to do is try this out with another guitar player. Let him play the melody and you play these chords........it's gonna sound great and swing like crazy.
Stay Inspired!
