On this specific fall afternoon we headed out over mountains near the Smoky Mountain National Park. The colors were some of the best in the past several years and there was no better way then to view it from a helicopter.
We told our guys back at our base where we were going and kept them updated with text messages as we flew over a rock slide that covered a road, took a close up look at the Snowbird antenna, and then went and checked out a potential landing area for a helicopter camping trip.
One thing bad about flying over mountainous terrain is that lack of good landing options available, even flying at 4,000 AGL, landing options are extremely limited. A lot of trust in the mechanics who work on them.
After performing a good area reconnaissance we proceeded to land and shutdown.
