I created this class to help you stretch out your paddling muscles after a surf, and to keep your shoulders subtle and tension-free in between surf sessions.
Whether you're surfing regularly, or working at a computer a lot, we surfers need to keep the upper body and shoulder subtle and tension-free to help our paddle become more efficient, and our body stress-free.
In this Yin Yoga class we'll stay in stretches for a number of minutes to help the stretch can go deeper into the muscles, joints and fascia.. This encourages the body to switch into a more restorative and repairing mode (the parasympathetic system), and balances out the "Yang" activities in our lives, which are anything you do that uses a lot of energy/strength/thinking power!
Surfing is perfect example of a Yang activity, so it's important to take the time to balance out the body, but also the mind. If you're a Go Go Go person like me, you'll soon find that injury and fatigue begin to come in to the body if you don't take the time to balance things out and allow the body to fully rest and restore.
Think of this class as a gift back to yourself and your body for letting it do all the activities you love doing!
