We hired a tiny Italian van that’s seen better days and took it on a road trip around Tasmania — from the wild cliffs of the Tasman Peninsula to the postcard-perfect Wineglass Bay, the foggy peaks of Cradle Mountain, and Hobart’s charming little streets. Along the way we chased waterfalls, dodged wallabies, spotted wombats, platypuses, and echidnas, and somehow only broke down a few times. Turns out, this southern Australian island is full of surprises — and a lot of hills.
