Three miles south of Bristol, Indiana stands a log home that was originally built in 1834 by James Mills of New Paris (Indiana). In the 1960's the building was reconstructed - log by log - to the original design and moved to Bristol. Ax marks can still be seen on the Rock Elm logs that make up the house. The youngest member of the Mills family fought for the Union in the American Civil War, was taken prisoner by the Confederates, and then moved to Andersonville prison in Georgia where he died of starvation and disease. The letters stopped coming, and the family never knew what happened to him until after the war. Oh, if these walls could talk!
