A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Japan yesterday, and within an hour it was followed by two magnitude 5 range earthquakes. While these did cause some damage, it was fairly minimal, with the earthquake sequence actually being scientifically interesting. As, these occurred on a somewhat unusual shear zone of sorts and represented a perfect example of a pair of conjugate faults. This video is discussed by a geologist.
