Proper lighting for professional content
Functional audio input
Correct device connectivity
Protection of equipment
2. Room Overview
The production space includes:
Three production lights
Overhead ceiling light
Wall power sources
Audio interface (connected to wall power)
Two microphones (Input 1 and Input 2)
White USB-C connection cable
Tripod for phone, tablet, or camera
Adapter that powers and charges connected devices
3. Standard Startup Procedure
(Use this procedure if you enter the room and everything is powered off.)
Step 1: Turn On Production Lighting
Locate the first light switch near the entry area.
Turn on the first production light.
Locate and turn on the second production light.
Locate and turn on the third production light.
Important:
There is an overhead ceiling light in the room.
The ceiling light alone is NOT sufficient for professional recording.
All three production lights must be turned on for proper content lighting.
You should now see the space evenly illuminated and camera-ready.
Step 2: Confirm Power to Audio System
Locate the wall power connection.
Ensure the USB-C power cable is connected to wall power.
Verify the audio interface is receiving power.
Once powered on, the audio interface should indicate signal activity.
Step 3: Confirm Microphone Input
After powering on the audio interface:
Lightly tap Microphone 1.
Confirm signal activity appears on Input 1.
Lightly tap Microphone 2.
Confirm signal activity appears on Input 2.
If both inputs show signal response:
✔ The microphones are active
✔ The audio interface is functioning correctly
If no signal appears:
Recheck power connection
Confirm cables are securely plugged in
Step 4: Connect to Your Recording Device
Locate the white USB-C cable.
Connect the USB-C cable to:
Your laptop
Your phone
Or your tablet
Important Notes:
When connecting to a phone via USB-C, the adapter will also charge your phone.
Power flows from the wall through the adapter into your device.
Ensure your recording software is open and recognizes the audio interface as the input source.
If using a laptop, refer to the separate guide:
“Connecting the CPCC Podcast Room to a Laptop”
