Real Time Sunset from Holyhead Harbour and Breakwater - Setting Over The Irish Sea In October

Описание: This is a relatively short video again, taken at the end of a day of filming. Our days are getting shorter, and we ran into this sunset as my daughter was pushing me along the breakwater (I'm not able to use my manual wheelchair for long).

All of a sudden, the sky lit up orange. This video has not been adjusted in any other way than merging the clips together. The colour you can see in the film, is the colour we saw on the breakwater. It's caused by a doppler shift in the light, as the source of the light (the sun), moves further away from us and the light is refracted around the planet's curve. The wavelength of the light increases, and the colour changes through yellows, oranges and reds.

It was absolutely stunning.

What also never fails to amaze me, is that at this point in the day, when it's far easier to look at the sun (still don't), you can literally see our planet turning if you get your perspective right relative to the sun. That's incredible. Just in case you wondered, the Earth turns at 15° (degrees) per hour. Thanks Bob ‪@SciManDan‬
