The JNPA Port (Pagote) to Nhava Sheva–Chowk Greenfield Expressway is a strategically important greenfield road project designed to enhance connectivity between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and the rapidly growing nodes of Navi Mumbai. This high-capacity corridor aims to streamline cargo movement, reduce travel time, and support regional economic development.
The expressway begins near Pagote—close to JNPA’s major container terminals—and extends directly toward Nhava Sheva, Ulwe, and onward to the Chowk junction on the Mumbai–Goa Highway (NH-66). Built with a focus on smooth freight transit, it is engineered as a multi-lane, access-controlled roadway to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure uninterrupted flow of vehicles.
The project will significantly decongest the existing JNPA–Uran–Panvel routes, offering a faster alternative for heavy commercial vehicles that currently face frequent traffic delays. Once operational, the expressway is expected to cut travel time between JNPA and Panvel/Chowk to just a few minutes, strengthening connectivity to key infrastructure such as the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), and industrial hubs in Taloja, Pen, and Raigad.
Designed with modern safety systems, long-life pavement, planned interchanges, and provisions for future expansion, this expressway marks an important step toward building a smarter logistics ecosystem in Maharashtra. It will boost port efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and support India’s growing maritime trade.
