Описание:
Length: 93.1 km (fully operational since 2004).
Current Configuration: Primarily 6 lanes (3 lanes each direction, divided carriageway) after major upgradation from the original 4 lanes.
Includes service lanes, 9 underpasses, 4 major bridges, 20 minor bridges, 15 flyovers, and interchanges at Nadiad/Kheda and Anand.
Speed Limits: Up to 120 km/h (one of India's fastest sections).
Original Cost: ₹475 crore.
Six-Laning Upgrade Cost: ₹3,300 crore (completed in phases by NHAI/IRB Infrastructure on DBFOT model).
Toll: Operated by private concessionaires; multiple plazas with FASTag support.
Route Highlights:
Starts at Ahmedabad (links to SP Ring Road).
Passes through Kheda/Anand districts.
Ends at Vadodara (connects to NH-48 towards Mumbai).
Parallel to old NH-48 but avoids urban congestion.
Current Status (as of January 2026)
Fully Operational and in excellent condition overall, handling massive daily traffic (one of Gujarat's busiest corridors).
Recent Maintenance: Post-monsoon resurfacing on a ~39 km stretch (Vadodara-to-Ahmedabad side) caused temporary slowdowns and single-lane restrictions in January 2026. Work expected to complete soon; motorists advised to start early or use alternatives.
Future Plans: Gujarat govt proposed widening to 8 lanes (January 2026) to handle rising traffic, logistics, and safety needs. NHAI holds sufficient right-of-way (50m on both sides), so minimal land acquisition needed. Proposal sent to Union Ministry; if approved, it could start soon.
Benefits and Impact
Travel Time: Reduced from ~2.5 hours (via old NH-48) to just 1 hour – a game-changer for commuters, businesses, and freight.
Economic Boost: Supports Gujarat's industrial hubs (Ahmedabad's textiles/tech, Vadodara's chemicals/pharma), tourism, and logistics.
Connectivity: Links seamlessly to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (via Vadodara interchange) and upcoming projects like Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway.
Safety & Efficiency: Controlled access, no at-grade crossings, and modern facilities make it safer than parallel routes.
