We root for innovation and development everywhere but government. However, for government to be successful, we have to reboot our expectations and celebrate the small-scale failures that lead to better service and improved lives. When you believe you are required to never fail, it is natural to focus on doing the same thing, over and over, despite the world changing around you.
Justin Entzminger advocates that the only way to increase trust in government is to have it be more responsive to residents. Additionally, the only way to be responsive is to build a system for experimentation and failure. Justin shares how his organization is failing forward by trying something new and learning from mistakes. Justin Entzminger is the Executive Director for Innovate Memphis, the non-profit innovation team for the City of Memphis. Under Justin's leadership, Innovate Memphis also became the official Memphis partner with the National Neighborhood Indicators Partnership in early 2021. Before joining Innovate Memphis, Justin worked as a strategy consultant. He has a Bachelor of Art degree from Georgetown University and a Master degree in Business Administration from the Massey School of Business at Belmont University, where he focused on entrepreneurship. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
