Mega Man X5: Anime Opening, X & Zero Training

I do this today to honor the 32nd Anniversary of Mega Man X, and the 38th Anniversary of Mega Man as a whole!

This game has an unusual feeling about it, to me. I have read that it was supposed to be a series finale for X, but things went differently at Capcom for that not to happen. Production in other places was wound back, too. All of those cool anime cutscenes don't exist in this game, instead using artwork stills and slideshows. The characters also keep their Japanese voices (for how limited they are in the US release).

Taking place after the 4th defeat of Sigma and his instigation of the Repliforce War against the Maverick Hunters, leading to the deaths of Colonel, Iris, and General, as well as the defeat of Double, X & Zero are once again called into action as Sigma had survived ONCE AGAIN, this time making this known from the frontlines for a scary plot that will threaten the entire Earth, itself, all with the help of a new set of Mavericks, including a leading henchman named Dynamo.

Likewise, however, X & Zero have gained their own new allies to help them in this game's mission, such as navigator Alia, mechanic Douglas, and commander Signas! Together, these five will be tasked with the riskiest effort to save the entire planet from certain doom staged by Sigma & Dynamo...

Unusually, this game has a sort of Tutorial, or Training Mode. Also, unlike X4, X & Zero are now a part of the same plot, so you can use them in a single save file, this time.

I will first go through the Training Mode using both characters. Alia will guide both of them for their similar and different moves, including some new universal mechanics, such as grabbing onto ropes, and... CROUCHING!

Immediately when you pick X in this game, you'll notice he's starting out with his Fourth Armor from X4. This is on purpose. It's slightly nerfed in some capabilities compared to X4, but nonetheless still mostly the same. What's more amusing is that you can opt out of using this Fourth Armor in a level run, and that there are newer Armors to find for X in this game (however, how that's set up is completely different, this time).

As for Zero, he remains the close combat sword fighter compared to X's long-ranged fighting style. He can use his basic sword attacks, and defeating the main Mavericks of this game will still give him new move to his moveset.

A newer thing he can use in X5 is the return of his Z-Buster. However, it's much lamer this time compared to how you could use it in X3. Very slow, and can't even be used in midair.

Keep this all in mind, because both X's Fourth Armor and Zero's Z-Buster can be "chosen" against the other depending on which hunter you start the main campaign with.

At the end of this Training course, Alia will have you fight against a simulation of Magma Dragoon. He fights mostly the same as he did in X4, but don't expect much from that anyway since this is just a training program you don't have to take seriously.

Now to move onto the main game!
