Artis Wodehouse pianolizes (foot pumps) George W. Thomas's New Orleans Hop Scop Blues from a ca. 1920 arranged piano roll on the Kimball label. Thomas's composition is an important blues featuring early examples of a boogie-woogie bass line. An arranged roll was not hand recorded, but cut into a piano roll by a piano roll editor.
George Washington Thomas Jr. (1883 – 1937) was an American blues and jazz pianist and songwriter. He wrote several influential early boogie-woogie piano pieces including "The New Orleans Hop Scop Blues", "The Fives", and "The Rocks".
