(19 Nov 2018) US investor and philanthropist George Soros is Vienna for talks on how to relocate the Central European University (CEU), which he funded, from Budapest to the Austrian capital.
Soros met with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on Sunday before attending the 25th anniversary of the American Austrian Foundation (AAF) on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Soros said "the partnership with Austria has played an important role in improving the healthcare systems in Eastern Europe and increasingly in Africa and Latin America."
Austrian Education Minister Heinz Fassmann said he would be "very happy" if the CEU came to Vienna, calling it a "prominent and very good university."
