Lucy wants to talk about the future with her parents and suggests that Gary fires Ray so Gary could run the ranch. Gary tells Lucy that he won’t dismiss Ray. J.R. tells Gary about a little company and attempts to convince him that he’d be perfect in running that company. Gary would rather work the ranch, but J.R. advises Gary to think over his offer. Valene senses that J.R. is going to drive her and Gary off Southfork just like he did before.
