Materials Needed
Main fabric (crepe, scuba, ponte knit, or soft suiting)
Interfacing (medium weight)
Matching thread
Blouse pattern or basic bodice block
Tailor’s chalk
Scissors
Iron
Sewing machine

Cutting Process
1. Draft the Basic Bodice
Use a fitted blouse bodice block (front and back).
Include bust dart or princess dart for shaping.
Add 1–1.5 inches ease for comfort.
2. Create the Asymmetric Hemline
On the front bodice, mark one side longer (usually the left).
Curve or angle the hem diagonally downward.
Keep the back hem slightly shorter and straight or softly curved.
3. Draft the Winged Collar
On the neckline, extend the shoulder neckline outward by 2–3 inches.
Draft a flat, angular collar shape that overlaps diagonally across the chest.
Cut:
1 collar piece from fabric
1 collar piece from interfacing
4. Cut Fabric Pieces
Front bodice (1 piece)
Back bodice (2 pieces if center zipper is used or 1 on fold)
Winged collar (2 pieces)
Sleeves (short fitted sleeves)
Optional facing for neckline

8. Join Bodice Pieces

9. Finish Neckline & Hem
