2 Maoists Killed in Kandhamal Encounter | Major Anti-Naxal Operation in Odisha

A major anti-Naxal operation is underway in the Karada forest under Raikia police limits in Kandhamal district, Odisha. Two Maoists, identified as Yogesh and Ratna, were killed during an exchange of fire with security forces.

The operation was launched by SOG jawans after intelligence inputs about Maoist movement in the area. The gunfight took place near Nitibadi village after Maoists opened fire, prompting strong retaliation from security personnel.

Security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle and an SLR from the encounter site. Search operations are still ongoing, and officials suspect more Maoists may have been injured.

Police stated that the mission to make Odisha Maoist-free by March is progressing steadily. Kandhamal Police described this as the first major success of the year, highlighting previous encounters and surrenders in the district.
