Flukes are a pain and incredibly difficult to remove from a discus fish aquarium once they have arrived. Most meds say treat once but flukes lay eggs, meds dont kill eggs and then eggs hatch and your flukes are back.
You can tell you have a fluke issue by watching your fish. Are they hiding, breathing fast, one gill closed, one gill extended, flicking off the decor or plants and fidgeting like they are being irritated by something. The symptoms disappear almost as soon as the meds go in but they soon come back.
This tank has a fluke issue. The water is perfect, its changed regularly, isnt dirty and a UV is running 24/7. But the flukes remain. Its more of an irritation that a problem but it cant be nice and I want them gone.
So to try and remove the flukes permanently from this tank its been stripped down for treatment. I will double dose the meds once a week for 6 weeks. This should break the cycle and hopefully sort the problem.
More info to follow as this treatment progresses.
Should be interesting and hopefully worth all the work.
