Unlock the Solution: Fixing Discus Fish Color Loss and Appetite Problems

Описание: Issue after issue just lately, but make the best of it. I've learnt a little bit more. Despite the issues, it's been a long time since I've lost a discus, and that's not changing anytime soon.

The nicest fish I have now goes to hospital after losing colour and stopping eating. I hadnt seen him eat beef heart for a while and would only take FDBW. SO not wanting him to only eat those i cut back on feeding them but still not taking any beef heart or granules. He lost almost all of his colours as he lost strength and was knocked of his top discus of the tank perch.

Now I know how to fix it, I need to work out why it keeps happening. But thats a job for another day.

In this case its off to hospital. I don't move them on their own. I always move them with a friendly, confident discus buddy. The stress of being alone is not helpful in this situation.

Epsom salts and 33 degs for 1 week. Don't even try to feed just yet. Then water change and Octozin at 32 degs. After a few days, it's time to try food. Bloodworm, no response, beef heart, no response. A mussel and they are straight after it. So now I'm putting beef heart in a mussel, and he's got a taste for it. Now he's taking beefheart without the Mussel. The tricky part now is the move back to the big tank where he needs to get back in the pecking order whilst continuing to eat. I'll feed him up in hospital for a few weeks I think.

But this has worked well. Act fast, its tempting to see what happens rather than stress them with a move. But a hospital tank where you can control everything, exactly is a great help.

Make sure any left over food is removed from the tank within 30 mins. Left over beef heart at 33 degs is a recipe for another disaster.
