Stevens Alumnus Jim Lloyd re-enacts the first U. S. Transcontinental Flight of the Vin Fiz aircraft on its 75th anniversary, originally piloted by Cal Rodgers.
Mr. Jim Lloyd purchased a vintage aircraft similar to the one Cal used from a local airport. He then contacted the original sponsors, and was able to modify the plane for its journey from Stevens Campus in Hoboken NJ, to Long Beach, CA. Jim would follow the Iron Trail, the railroad map of the 1910s, and make all the same stops as the original flight.
Touching down over 100 times and meeting thousands of supporters in the process, Jim was nationally recognized by media, news outlets, and local communities for inspiring them to remember and honor the achievements of Cal Rodgers and Jim Lloyd.
