Jim S - The Vin Fiz Home built Wright Brother's EX Biplane RC Electric Model Airplane

Описание: Many don't know it but the Vin Fiz is not only a grape soda drink but another kind of Wright brother's plane (Wright EX biplane). Cal Rodgers made the first U. S. Transcontinental Flight with this aircraft in 1911.

In this video Jim S. takes his RC electric model of the Vin Fiz for a flight and shows us just what it can do. Although the Wright Flyer looks like its flying backwards the Vin Fiz looks more conventional in it's flight and even has ailerons yet still has that distinctive Wright Brother's look. Jim spent 52 hours building this plane more or less from scratch except the wings which came from the same model kit as the Wright Flyer he made.

"Calbraith Perry ("Cal") Rodgers, an inexperienced 32-year-old pilot, in 1911 made the first transcontinental flight across the United States. He reached Pasadena, California, on November 5, 1911, and Long Beach, California, on December 10, flying between Sheepshead Bay, near New York City, New York, and the West Coast in a Wright EX biplane. He carried the first transcontinental mail pouch and was accompanied on the ground by a support crew that repaired and rebuilt the plane after its numerous rough landings and crashes."
