Adam Savage - The Songwriter

Описание: I wrote this song on July 3, 2022, the day after I sold my Roland keyboard in preparation for travel. I wanted to play music, but it felt more like programming than playing because I did it on the ipad with lots of arpeggiation. Later with my MIDI keyboard I added the "African choir". I think I recorded my vocals before I moved out, but I struggled to finish the song for months. I'm still not happy with its production (or any of my songs so far), but I want to keep moving forward and put it behind me.

This song tells the story of a successful (aka not me) songwriter whose pop music jingles have elevated his influence and ego to astronomical proportions. As a cautionary tale it's essentially the Faust legend. Apologies to Barry Manilow and Bruce Johnston for stealing "I write the songs" as a lyric.

And to think I'm dropping two of my greatest lines ("Ring a ding ding, pull on that string" and "You start tapping your ugly feet") within weeks of each other!
