Family Day reminds us of belonging, love, and shared identity—but this message takes us deeper, to the grace that makes us part of God’s family in the first place. As we begin our journey through the book of Romans, we are introduced not first to a doctrine, but to a transformed man. The name “Paul” once inspired fear in the early church, yet that same man became the greatest herald of the grace he once tried to destroy. Through the dramatic account of the Damascus Road and the opening words of Romans 1, this sermon explores how the gospel does not merely improve a life—it interrupts it, claims it, and completely reshapes it.
We see that salvation is not self-discovery but divine invasion; not moral refinement but resurrection from spiritual death. Paul’s story confronts our assumptions about religious zeal, sincerity, and knowledge, reminding us that you can know theology and still miss Christ. Grace must arrest us before it sends us. Before Paul was an apostle, he was a servant—owned by the very Lord he once opposed.
This message calls us to examine our own lives. Has grace simply enhanced your identity, or has it claimed you? Christianity is not an add-on to self-rule but a transfer of ownership—from defining ourselves to belonging wholly to Jesus Christ. The same Lord who stopped Saul on the Damascus Road still speaks today. When Christ calls your name, everything changes.
