Recorded over the weekend of January 7th & 8th, 2023 at various locations along the WMSR path between Cumberland and Frostburg, Maryland.
Western Maryland Scenic Railroad No. 1309 H-6 2-6-6-2 Mallet type steam engine
To start off the new year of 2023, the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad operated its Frostburg Flyer for the winter season with 1309 on lead. Watch as 1309 climbs the mountainous terrain of Western Maryland, struggling at certain parts, slipping and fighting for grip, 1309 puts on a show as this beast of the east climbs towards Frostburg!
The black flags on the front of 1309 are in remembrance of George Walker, a member of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum who sadly passed away.
