In this video, I walk you through how I crafted my Cathedral Bracers using 9 oz (3.5 mm) veg-tan leather and my digital pattern. I show you all the steps—from cutting, bevelling, skiving, and embossing the leather to dyeing, assembling the layers, and adding bone accents and felt lining. I also go over how to properly shape the leather using hot water and how to attach all the pieces with rivets and straps for mobility and comfort. The finger section is a bit tricky, but with patience and some rubber straps, it all comes together nicely. These bracers are made for LARP, with solid hand protection and a worn, battle-ready look—I’m really happy with how they turned out and hope you like them too!

Recommended materials and tools
3,5 mm (9 oz) veg. tanned leather
4 mm (1/6 inch) felt
2,5 cm (1 inch) wide straps form strong flexible leather or backpack straps
2 buckle for 1,5 cm (3/5 inch) straps one for each shoulder attachment
4 buckle for 2,5 cm (1 inch) straps for 2 pauldrons for arm straps
2 cm (4/5 inch) wide strap from some stretchy cloth rubber band
Long rivets
Tools: edge trimmer, cutting knife, burnisher, hole punches, leather carving tools, bone folder, clamps, sewing material, diamond shaped chisel, wing divider, glue, rivets, anvil, groove cutter, leather skiver, 1.2 cm (½ inch) end punch or cut off around holes punch (for the decorative edge of the felt)
