Liverpool, 1847. The wealthiest port in the British Empire. But beneath the feet of the rich merchants, a human tragedy was unfolding. Refugees fleeing the Irish Potato Famine were packed into underground "Cellar Dwellings"—windowless, flooded basements that became known simply as: The Black Hole.

In this video, we use AI reconstruction to visualize the claustrophobic horror of these cellars. We track the arrival of the "Coffin Ships," expose the suffocating conditions where the living slept beside the dead, and reveal how typhus turned the city into a mass grave.
