In this video, we use AI reconstruction to bring the haunting photography of John Thomson to life. We uncover the heartbreaking story of "Scotty"—an educated widow stripped of her dignity—and reveal the brutal reality of the Victorian Workhouse.

Why did they refuse government help? Why was a cup of used tea leaves their only comfort? And why did society let them crawl?
