This a shorter version of this episode that ends with a genuine Freudian slip. I kept it because — in an episode about unconscious systems leaking through your filters — having my own unconscious leak through on camera felt too perfect to cut. The content demonstrated itself. I was "incompetent" as I couldn't get actual words out of my mouth on a public video to upload to whomever will see it. Fear of incompetence sabotaging my competent public persona. I don't have an Irony Defiency.

You have systems running that you're not even monitoring. And they're actually elegant engineering.
Your conscious mind — what you think of as "you" — is a very small percentage of what's actually running. Your autonomic nervous system has two modes: parasympathetic (maintenance, rest and digest) and sympathetic (emergency response, resource reallocation based on threat assessment).
Carl Jung identified the shadow — not "evil," just unconscious. The parts that got pushed out of awareness. "Don't be so analytical." "Don't be so critical." Those parts didn't delete. They went underground.
Your pet peeves? Often the shadow projecting what you can't see in yourself. The person terrified of incompetence... sees it everywhere but the mirror. Theoretically, you should have seen that coming.
Beyond the shadow: the demon. The rage reservoir. "Something came over me." "I wasn't myself." Classic demon activation. That's what's been contained — and what emerges when the filtering systems go offline.
In tribal context? All of this was elegant, adaptive design. Emergency mode was TEMPORARY. By design. It was never meant to be permanent.
