The Botanical Garden in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, is part of the Nandankanan Zoological Park. It is located about 15 kilometers from the city center and offers a serene environment, perfect for nature lovers. The garden covers a vast area, featuring a variety of plant species, including rare and endangered ones.

The botanical garden is a great place for leisurely walks, photography, and learning about different plant species. It's open to the public, and there's usually a nominal entry fee rupees 20 per person. Like the Nandankana zoo, botanical garden is closed on every Monday.


Bamboo garden is known for its serene and tranquil atmosphere, often featuring various species of bamboo, water elements like ponds or fountains, and other landscaping features such as rocks or pathways. There is one artificial small water fall which flows through as a narrow stream. It has various species of bamboo inside.

There are picnic Pindi, where you can prepare food and have. Or else you can bring food from outside and have here as well. The lush greenery and calmness of forest will give you some good memories.

Butterfly Garden here is a section designed to attract and support butterfly populations. There is hall which explains the life cycle of butterflies and different species of butterflies. There are ponds and flowering trees to support the ecosystem for butterflies and to attract them to the place.


There is also a Bonsai Garden, where you will find a good collection of well-maintained bonsai plants. Similarly there is also an palm garden where you will find varieties of palm trees.


You can also go for rope way ride, which is Rupees 120 per person. You will enjoy the panoramic view of the botanical garden and Nandankana zoo. You will also enjoy the very beautiful kanjia Lake.


There is a big and beautiful Glass House, a dedicated space for various species of cacti and succulents. It house many indoor plants, different species of orchids and outdoor cactus as well.

The road inside is well maintained. You can take your private car which has rupees 120 as entry fees and can ride around the garden. You can enjoy the kanjia Lake flowing across the garden where there are many photography places and view points as well.

There are also Cottages which you can book to Stay inside garden. Place to place inside the garden there are many green houses to support diversity of indoor plants as well.


There is big and open children park inside. There is also an artificial zoo which children will enjoy the most.

Medicinal Plant Garden, showcases a variety of plants with medicinal properties.

One of the most beautiful attraction here is Mughal Garden. It has various monument and sitting areas which mimic Mughal architecture. It has beautiful fountain and long streched garden to roam around and relax. It also has a hydrophonic garden, where you can find varieties of water body plants.


Overall this is a must visit place with family and friends to enjoy the weekend and go away from city even within the city to have some wonderful time in the nature's lap.
