Badaghagara Waterfall is a picturesque natural attraction located approximately 9 kilometers from Keonjhar town in Odisha, India. The name "Badaghagara" translates to "big waterfall" in the local language. The waterfall is formed by the Machha Kandana River, a tributary of the Baitarani River, cascading from a height of about 60 meters or 200 feet into a serene pool below. 


The site is accessible by road from Keonjhar town. Visitors can hire local transportation to reach the waterfall. 


Nestled amidst lush green forests and hills, Badaghagara offers a tranquil environment, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and photographers. 


The best time to visit Badaghagara is from November to June, with early mornings or late afternoons offering the most pleasant experiences.


Four wheeler entry fee is rupees 50 here. You have to walk for around 500 meter to reach the waterfall from parking and the path includes picturesque views and narrow water streams, which are originated from the waterfall. There are multiple watch tower and photoshoot places where you can enjoy the beauty of the waterfall.


There is a floating base near the waterfall, where you can go to enjoy the waterfall from close distance.


The waterfall maintains a continuous flow throughout the year, with its volume peaking during the monsoon season that is from June to September. 


Badaghagara Dam which is at a height from the waterfall is accessible via road and even you can use the stairs to reach. The dam is primarily used for water supply and irrigation, but it is also a popular tourist destination due to its scenic beauty and nearby waterfall. Surrounded by the mountains the dam provides breathtaking view during sunset. There is a view point at the centre to enjoy the beauty of the dam. There are multiple picnic pindis here, where you can have your picnic as well.
