OET Nursing Speaking Roleplay: Child MRI Scan + Sedation

Описание: In this OET Nursing Speaking roleplay, you’re the nurse in the emergency department speaking with Mrs Dean, a worried parent of a 6-year-old who has had headaches and vomiting and now needs an MRI brain scan.

This is realistic Band-A practice for the exact skills OET examiners listen for: calm tone, clear explanations, empathy, and structured communication.

What you’ll practise in this roleplay

✅ Rapport + identity check (safe, professional opening)
✅ Signposting (what will happen in the conversation)
✅ Explaining MRI vs X-ray (and that MRI uses no radiation)
✅ Giving clear, parent-friendly details: 30–45 minutes, keeping still, what the scanner looks/sounds like
✅ Handling concerns about sedation (risks vs benefits, safety, monitoring)
✅ Reassurance without dismissing fear (validating emotion + practical reassurance)
✅ Checking understanding (teach-back style)
✅ Shared decision-making + consent language
✅ Closing the conversation professionally (next steps + questions)

How to use this for fast score gains
Listen once for meaning (don’t pause).
Shadow the nurse lines (copy the rhythm + intonation).
Pause and paraphrase: say the same idea in your own words (this builds flexibility).
Record yourself doing the nurse role and compare with the model.
Repeat until your delivery sounds calm, natural, and structured.
