The Tiroler Kreuzspitze had been on our bucket list for a long time, as it is one of the highest hikeable peaks in the Austrian Alps. In August 2024, with great weather on our side, we finally set out to climb it.
Our journey begins in the charming village of Vent. From there, we hike through the stunning Niedertal valley to reach the Martin Busch Hütte, where we take a break and enjoy the spectacular scenery, especially the views of Similaun and the Marzellferner glacier.
After resting, it's time for the summit push—a challenging 3 km hike with an elevation gain of roughly 900 meters. The strenuous ascent rewards us with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including the Wildspitze, the Finailspitze, and the Similaun.
Afterwards, we descend to the hut and make our way back to Vent in time to catch the bus to our apartment. A challenging but rewarding one-day adventure.
