From Giggijochbahn Bergstation to Rotkogel (2947 m) & Schwarzkogel (3016 m)

On a quiet summer morning in August 2024, we visited Sölden and took the Giggijochbahn up to its mountain station. From there, we made our way to the Rotkogelhütte through a skiing area, which wasn't particularly scenic in the summer. But from the hut onward, the landscape turned more and more stunning with a blend of rugged mountains, glaciers, and grazing fields.
We summited two relatively easy mountain peaks and passed by two crystal-clear alpine lakes. The second summit, the Schwarzkogel, offered sweeping views of some of the most iconic mountains in the broader region, including Schrankogel, Wildspitze & Hohe Geige.
A relatively short out-and-back hike - but one that was absolutely worth it!
