This tutorial explains the role of the Joker. The Joker is a key figure of the different techniques of the theatre of the oppressed method. The joker facilitates the discussion with the audience during and after the performances (image theatre, forum theatre, newspaper theatre, legislative theatre). A joker is the name of the person who intermediates the process between the audience and the play (performed by actors). The joker acts like a host who oversees the process. The joker has a crucial role in achieving the objectives of the performances.
The presentation was filmed as part of a Training Course in May 2019 in Madeira (Portugal) in the framework of the "Using Theatre to Make Politics" Erasmus+ co-funded project. Filmed and edited by Ákos Pintér.
