After being placed on the waiting list, Curtis explains the anxiety that comes with waiting for the call. Curtis needed to carry his phone with him at all times and be within a 2 hours of the hospital in case the call came for his transplant. For him, the call came on Christmas Eve in 2009. He was told to come to the hospital as soon as possible as there was a pair of lungs available for him. His first reaction was shock, but with adrenaline running he gathered his things to go to the hospital.
