Impella Device : This video continues our detailed breakdown of the Impella CP device, focusing on its pump, motor, and catheter shaft.
Impella CP Pump: An axial pump with a helical impeller, housed within the pump casing, and connected to the motor via a shaft. A purge fluid system prevents overheating and thrombosis.
Impella CP Motor: A brushless, electronically commutated synchronous motor with high energy efficiency, driving the impeller via a rotating shaft.
Impella CP Catheter Shaft: A 9 Fr, 120 cm shaft, reinforced with a nitinol coil to prevent kinking, and containing a fiber-optic cable, purge lumen, and power supply wires.
