The controversy surrounding a B.Ed institution in Apex Profesional University pasighat has deepened, with students alleging financial irregularities, academic mismanagement, and manipulation of attendance records, while the college administration has denied the charges.

Addressing the allegations, Dean Mousumi Chaudhary stated that the amount collected from students was not an examination fee, but a registration fee taken prior to the second semester. She maintained that the fee collection was part of the institutional process and denied any wrongdoing.

However, students strongly contested the claim, alleging that the amount was collected in the name of examination-related charges. They claimed to possess documentary proof showing that ₹50,000 was taken from students, contradicting the administration’s version. According to the students, despite paying the amount, no first semester examination was conducted, while fees were collected for the second semester.

Students further alleged that the college demanded ₹10,000 per student as “development fees”, linking it to attendance shortages. They claimed that while the administration showed 64 classes in attendance records, only 47 actual classes were conducted, leading to pressure on students to pay additional fees.

The students also accused the administration of not maintaining a proper attendance register, alleging that they were instructed to write attendance manually in their notebooks, raising serious questions about transparency and academic accountability.

Additionally, students alleged that they were barred from entering examination halls if development fees were not paid, charged excessively high examination fees, and denied refunds despite repeated requests. They also raised concerns over administrative lapses, faulty attendance records, and a shortage of faculty members, which they said adversely affected their academic progress.

The situation escalated after students alleged that the college administration challenged the media and student unions of Arunachal Pradesh, instead of engaging in dialogue to resolve the grievances.

Students have demanded immediate intervention by the Higher Education Department, a thorough inquiry into fee collection and attendance records, and refund of all disputed amounts. They warned that failure to address the issue could lead to intensified protests in the coming days.
