In a controversial statement, Maulana Arshad Madani, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has labeled the Allahabad High Court's approval of Hindu prayers at the Gyanvyapi Mosque complex as 'injustice and oppression'. Refusing to accept the Archaeological Survey of India's findings of 55 temples related to the Hindu religion at the complex, Madani declared his intention to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court. He also rejected the notion that Mughal emperors had razed temples to construct mosques.
