David Cassidy “ Man Undercover “ 1978
Premise: The show centered on Officer Dan Shay, a married, twenty-something cop who looked young enough to pass as a teenager or young adult, allowing him to successfully infiltrate various criminal rings, such as high-school drug operations, college black market schemes, and even prison crime bosses.
Pilot: The series was a spin-off of a highly successful two-hour episode of the anthology series Police Story titled "A Chance to Live" (May 1978), for which Cassidy received an Emmy Award nomination for Best Dramatic Actor.
The theme song for the TV series David Cassidy: Man Undercover, titled "Hard Times" (also known as "Hard Times, Hard Crimes" or "Hard Times (Under Cover)"), was written by David Cassidy and Jay Gruska.
David Cassidy also performed the song. The full version of the song was never released as a single, though a portion was used for the show's opening credits.
