Описание: Four years after starring in The Partridge Family, David Cassidy traded in his guitar and velvet vest for a badge and a gun. David Cassidy: Man Undercover was a spinoff of Police Story after Cassidy starred in a special two-hour episode entitled "A Chance to Live." The show’s premise was ahead of its time. The concept of a twenty-something cop going undercover in high school would be popularized in the following decade by the hit show 21 Jump Street.

David Gerber served as the show’s executive producer. A role he held on Police Story as well. During Gerber’s long career, he served as president of the television division of three major studios: 20th Century Fox Television, Columbia Television and MGM Television. Throughout most of this time, his works went under his own production company David Gerber Productions.

The show’s theme song (Hard Times, Hard Crimes) was written and performed by Cassidy with little help from rock musician Jay Gruska. Gruska would go on to have a prolific career in television, writing scores for popular shows like Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Charmed, and Supernatural.
