This tutorial explains how to export a 3D BIM model for the utility networks in an infraWizard project and migrating this model to Autodesk Navisworks.
An infraWizard project can include pipe networks for pressure systems like water distribution and transmission and gravity systems like storm drainage and sewerage.
The pipe networks in infraWizard consist of pipes, structures like chambers and manholes, and fittings like Tees, Bends, Reducers, Collars, and End Caps.
First, the networks are exported to 3D solids on AutoCAD using the command Export BIM. This drawing containing 3D solids is then exported to an NWC file using the command "NWCOUT". If AutoCAD does not recognize the command "NWCOUT", you need to download the Navisworks Export Utility, which is a free tool provided by Autodesk and can be found at this web page https://www.autodesk.com/products/nav...
The text data files exported with the model are converted into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and saved in XLS format so they can be linked to the Navisworks model. After linking the data files to Navisworks model, a Navisworks Document or NWD file. The NWD file will combine the 3D solids of the network components with all data from spreadsheets into one document that can be delivered as a standalone deliverable or combined with other Navisworks models in an integrated project.
