I have always been fascinated by Escolta. During my university days in the 1980s, I used to hang out at Escolta, shopping for clothes (Syvel's) and books (Bookmark). My graduation picture was taken at X'or in Escolta. There's the old Tropical Hut store the I frequently visit for their yummy hamburgers (at hindi madamot sa mustard)..
Several decades, Escolta is now but a silent memory of its glorious past.
We recently joined a walking tour of Escolta organized by Renacimiento Manila and The Heritage Collection to learn more about the past, the present and future of this historic street in Manila.
